Local Teens from Autism Peer 1 on 1 Win Big at National Business Plan Competition on May 4, 2025
It was a proud moment for local youth on May 4 as both teams representing Autism Peer 1 on 1, a student-led organization based in Cypress, earned top honors at the ECHO Teen Entrepreneurship Challenge, also known as the National Teen Entrepreneurs’ Business Plan Competition. Held at California State University, Dominguez Hills, the competition brought together 53 youth-led teams from across the country to present innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
Autism Peer 1 on 1 was represented by two standout teams:
● Team Volign took home 2nd Place in the Social Enterprise category for their mobile app concept aimed at revolutionizing volunteer engagement.
● Team Camp GLO secured a partnership with an international foundation and opened the door for future grant funding to support its inclusive social camp program for youth with autism.
Autism Peer 1 on 1 team of Volign got social enterprise second place.
Volign is a startup aiming to launch a mobile app that connects volunteers with organizations, streamlines hour tracking, and supports real-time communication. Its creators hope to reach over 100 million potential users across the U.S., from nonprofit leaders to youth looking to give back. The team’s long-term vision: become the “Facebook of volunteering.”
Team Camp GLO is on the way of receiving a funding and formed a new
partnership with an international foundation
Camp GLO, short for “Growth, Leadership, and Outreach,” is a youth-led initiative offering year-round weekend programs designed by ASD specialists. The curriculum includes communication workshops, sensory-friendly activities, and sports—all at an affordable cost.
