On Jun 17, 2023, the first sunny day after a gloomy month, Seal Beach Branch facilitated Shipley Nature Center Walk for special needs youth.
The walk was carefully planned to engage their senses, provide structure, and create a supportive environment for exploration and learning. The activities were designed to be interactive, inclusive, and tailored to the unique needs and interests of youth on the autistic spectrum , ensuring a positive and enriching experience in nature.
At the end of the walk, the group gathered at the picnic area where they enjoyed some snack and drink, shared their favorite moment from the walk. 12 special needs youth and their parents/caregivers participated the walk. Special thanks to peers from Cypress, Cerritos and Irvine for supporting this event.
